Naomi for Parliament

Naomi with Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg MP

Naomi Smith lives and works in Pimlico and will be the Liberal Democrat candidate for Cities of London and Westminster – the seat that includes Pimlico – at the General Election in 2010.

Tackling Parking Chaos

Naomi has been at the forefront of the Lib Dem campaign against unfair parking regulations.
“Westminster residents are targeted for extra cash by the Tory council and that’s just unfair,” she says.
“I will fight hard against Tory plans to end free off-peak parking and for fairness on residents’ permits. It cannot be right that in a borough with 32,000 spaces Westminster council sells 36,000 permits.”
“I just want people to get a fair deal,” says Naomi.
Speaking up for local residents
Naomi has been working with residents near Victoria  station who suffer stress and disruption from train noise.
“What shocks me the most isn’t the level of noise,” she says, “It’s the appalling complacency from the Conservative council and MP totally failing to do anything to help.”
Naomi is helping local people to get answers from Network Rail and the council. “I’m determined to get results,” she says.
We can cut Crime
“When I speak to voters and neighbours, the issue that always comes up is crime,” says Naomi.
Naomi has led calls for a local police office in Pimlico and has condemned Tory cuts in police numbers. “We need more police and they should be closer to the people they serve,” she says.
Naomi supports Liberal Democrat plans to scrap Labour’s costly and intrusive ID cards and spend the money on frontline police that really cut crime.
